Report Title:
Is the Church In Darkness?

In asking the question, “Is the Church in darkness?”

We are asking, “Is the Church in IGNORANCE?”

We are asking, “Are Christians spiritually blind?”

We are not asking, “Do you see Christians doing things they should not be doing.”

The lifestyle of a Christian will not improve until they are returned to perfect faith.

Jesus is called “the LIGHT” of the world. Jn 12:46,  “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”  We know that it was not just the person of Jesus, but His knowledge that brought light into the world.

This is why the apostle Paul speaks of “the LIGHT of the gospel.” 2 Cor. 4:4,  “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” The knowledge of the gospel brings light to the soul when coupled with God’s grace.

Let’s also look at Is.53:11, “He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.”

When the gospel is part truth and part error, the LIGHT of the knowledge of Jesus Christ is no longer pure, and the eye of the Body of Christ is no longer single, and the body falls into darkness. Jesus said, “The light of the BODY is the EYE: if therefore thine EYE be SINGLE, thy whole body shall be full of light.”

“But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Mt 6:22, 23.

Most Christians are familiar with the scripture in Hos. 4:6, which reads, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” The church has the Bible and believes that the Bible is the inspired word of God. They believe what is written from Genesis to Revelation. So, how can there be a deficit in the knowledge of God? Christians are trying to come to terms with the thousands of conflicting messages about Jesus Christ that are all based on the Bible. God is not conflicted. Man is conflicted about his involvement with the knowledge of Christ and they are perishing because the knowledge of Christ has not been ordered for them. This conflict arose when the Headship of Jesus Christ was set aside in favor of accessing knowledge through many doors.

God provided the Headship of Christ through the stewardship of living apostles in order for the knowledge of Jesus Christ to remain pure, that is without error (Acts 2:42; I Cor.12:28). When the Body receives the light of the knowledge of Christ through apostles, the Body is single minded in truth.

SINGLENESS in TRUTH means this:

The knowledge of Christ is not accompanied by false knowledge.
The knowledge of Christ is solitary, not mixed with error.
The knowledge of Christ consists of one truth, not many truths.
The knowledge of Christ is not divided, but integrated.
The knowledge of Christ is not prioritized, but functions as a whole.
The knowledge of Christ is not in part, but in whole.
The knowledge of Christ is designed to accommodate one faith, not many faiths.

The Church agrees with this need for singleness in truth as an ideal. However, Christians do not yet experience this in practice. Why does this singleness of truth not presently exist in practice? Because light is not coming through the eye.

As God provided the natural body with sight through the physical organ called “the eye,” God  also provided the eye of the Body of Christ to give spiritual sight to the Body. The light of God’s knowledge comes through the eye. The eye is the apostle’s calling.

The apostle Paul speaks of the Body of Christ as organs of the body. "If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?  If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?” 1 Cor.12:15-17.

In the Body of Christ, the eye is that critical organ of sight, which deals with doctrine. The Body presently speaks of many visions because sight is coming through those who desire to see, but are not the eye.  When the knowledge is pure, the eye is single, and the whole body is filled with the light of the knowledge of Christ. That’s God’s plan. We must comprehend Jesus Christ first through the knowledge of truth before we can experience His healing hand upon the soul.

Romans 6:17
"But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you." God uses apostles to teach the FORM of doctrine that represents Jesus Christ.  Any other FORM of doctrine does not represent Jesus Christ.

Romans 16:17
"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." There are not many truths that represent Jesus Christ, just one doctrine of Christ.  (2 Jn.9).

Yet the government of God does not end with apostles. God uses each calling (the hearing, the smelling, the hand, the foot, etc.) to provide grace for growth. Each calling is used to build upon the foundation of the apostle’s doctrine. The prophets confirm the foundation, the evangelists preach, the pastors nurture, and the teachers teach that one doctrine of Christ.

That light that comes through the apostle gives knowledge to the whole Body of Christ, and all build in singleness of that sight, having one vision. The whole body is full of light because all can see and acknowledge that ONE truth that is in Christ.

Eph.4:4,5
“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism.” God’s plan for only one Body of Christ and one faith can only be possible when the Body all follows one vision.

When Christians do not receive the light of the knowledge of Christ through apostles, but through pastors and teachers, and false apostles, and prophets, and televangelists and authors, then error is inevitably mixed with truth, and the eye is no longer single. The “eye” (the organ that is used to perceive, but not by the grace of God) is evil.

Evil: We could define “evil” by looking at people and their actions and their ability to afflict others with pain and sorrow.  We can then look at Satan as “evil” and look at his history to see how his actions afflicted pain and sorrow upon the human race. Evil is then described as that action. Satan caused faithlessness in the heart of Adam.  Satan robbed Adam’s heart of faith by offering him an option to God’s commandment, by promising him something that appealed to his imagination.  An evil heart follows after Satan suggestions and remains faithless towards God.

We are reminded again of Jesus’ words, “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Mt 6:22, 23.

DARKNESS: By definition, is the LACK of light, LACK of enlightenment; LACK of knowledge; something this is obscured.

There is no lack or shortage of books about the many truths about Jesus Christ, there is a lack of quintessential truth that comes through the apostle’s office.

THE EVIDENCE:  There is evidence that supports the fact that the light the Body is receiving is not the light of the knowledge of Jesus Christ. The darkness of error causes faith to go into crisis. Each new Christian book on the market addresses the Exigent Faith and speaks about faith crisis.

THE AUTHOR --  Tommy Barnett

THE BOOK  --  Hidden Power

Barnett claims we can tap into a kingdom principle that will change us forever. We are asked:

 WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT?
Do you want more creativity?
Do you need financial blessing?
Are you looking for some peace and joy?
Could you use more time to get things done?
Do you want more fulfillment in your life?

Barnett asks believers what they have been doing to make these things happen, and reminds the believer of the scriptures that say God wants to bless
them. The author points out that after all the prayers have ascended and the tears have dried up, sometimes we feel that the magic lamp always seems to end up in someone else's hands.

Barnett says he is offering a long awaited honest and practical book that will put the kingdom principle in your power. Once you start using it, you will experience the blessings that you seek.

 Dr. vonAnderseck's Assessment Review:

Because the Church is in darkness, the power of God has been obscured, and difficult to find. Christians are suffering because they feel as if the well of blessing has been stopped up, their life is unfulfilled, and there is little peace, joy, or victory. This is a picture of the ruin, injury, and pain that the Body has had to endure because the light of God’s knowledge is not coming through the eye (the apostle’s calling).

Barnett’s book is among a host of many that promises yet another principle that does not come from the Headship of Jesus Christ. Instead of turning the believer to the true power of God through the things that God has sanctified, this author turns the attention of the people to the power of the flesh. This simply mitigates the suffering that believers experience when their faith does not follow the light of Christ.

Because the eye of the Body is evil, today's Christian does not know the difference between mitigating a lie and the mediation of Jesus Christ. Through Choice Education offered through Second 8th Week University, believers are empowered to remove the Journey Mask that suggests that they are journeying towards a promise, when in actuality they are wandering in the wilderness.

The cross of Christ must go before us as a shield. The cross represents what God has provided for us through covenant. Jesus shed His blood to provide this covenant. The covenant goes before our activity to provide the pattern of obedience before deliverance, therefore we are able to confirm the virtues of Christ and not our own strength. This holy knowledge is what Christ will return to the Church when sight is returned through apostles.

Christ has returned the church to her first love and Christians are now returning to their first works and the light of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ is again proceeding from the Head. God is again giving grace for doctrine through teaching apostles and the eye of the Body is again single. The Headship of Jesus Christ is restored, Apostolic Governance is restored, and the purity of truth is restored. While some have become stunted in the prophetic, reaching back into the programs of the 70’s to revitalize and reface old spiritual concepts Second 8th Week University is uniquely positioned to offer Apostolic Governance and stewardship of truth through program application that has already proven to completely revolutionize faith and return it in power to the original form Jesus gave in the First 8th Week.

What the Church Needs to Overcome to Embrace Jesus as the Head of the Body and the apostles as the “eye:”

1.  False Justification to Remain in Darkness: Despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, many Christians believe that the church is not in darkness because they can see God’s healings and the blessings that He still graciously bestows upon the church. The blessings are said to confirm the Body of Christ rather than confirm the compassion of God.

Why this indoctrination does not reflect the headship of Christ:

1.  In the Old Testament, we see that the curse followed the blessing. God had sent quail in answer to the prayers of the children of Israel and fed them according to their appetite. However, we read that, “And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp. [33] And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord smote the people with a very great plague” Num. 11:32,33.

Why did a curse follow a blessing?  Simply because the children of Israel were enjoying the blessing of God and at the same, time showing an unwillingness to submit to Moses.  They wanted the blessing, but not the responsibility of the covenant.

2.  When Jesus performed the many miracles of His ministry, was God confirming the priests who had polluted the faith of the people?  No. God was confirming Jesus Christ.  The angel that stirred up the water at the pool of Bethesda was not there to sanctify the people (Jn.5:1-4); he was there to perform a miracle of healing.  The act of God's compassion does not sanctify, faith does.  The manna that God gave the children of Israel did not sanctify them, faith did.

There are many testimonies to God’s goodness, compassion, and mercy. We listen to testimonials and thank God as we wonder at His power to heal and restore. However, when these stories become fables they destroy faith. An element has been removed from the testimony, which removes Christ from the witness,  and an element has been added to the testimony, which seducing spirits use to confirm the imagination; the momentum of faith is then carried by the power of human aspiration. God provides a sign of His existence and love for humanity and Christians build with the sign rather than build with faith.  This is how Christians Fables are born.

People imagine that God provides these experiences as an authorization or stamp of approval upon their faith and indoctrination. Therefore, one’s own indoctrination is used as a fulcrum to interpret the testimony for the purpose of confirming what is aspired. Since the experience was real, the doctrine that accompanies it is not questioned; neither is the source of inspiration discerned. The testimony then becomes a fable, and the gospel of Jesus Christ becomes a fable (is reduced to give power and witness to that which is common, rather than to that which is holy).

We can begin to understand the appeal of the Laughter Movement, the Faith Movement, and the False Empathic Prophetic Movement. These indoctrinations had no power for regeneration or faith, yet these movements gained popularity based on testimonies, which then became fables.

Fables are ways and means that believers use to assess their Christianity apart from the Headship of Christ and the apostles’ doctrine. Jesus Christ is then valued according to one’s own perspective and principles, thus changing the truth of God into a lie (Rom.1:25).

What the Church Needs to Overcome to Embrace Jesus as the Head of the Body and the apostles as the “eye:”

2. The Church needs to Overcome Greed: This false indoctrination says that God's blessing is seen by the size of the pocketbook. Many have said, “How can the Body of Christ be in darkness, we see an increase in our funds and an increase in our programs.”

Why this indoctrination does not reflect the headship of Christ:

People misinterpret “Fatness” to mean “well favored of God.” God slew those who were fattest among the children of Israel (Ps.78:30,31) because they used their position of wealth as a standard of faith. Many Christian leaders do the same. The passage in Psalms reminds us that what is highly esteemed in the eyes of man, is an abomination to God.  God is angry with the chief ones who call themselves the fattest (the blessed of the Lord).  Instead of the blessing opening their eyes, it blinded their eyes and turned the heart of the church to emulation, strife, and greed.

God also sends leanness into the hearts of those who use their position of wealth as a standard of faith. God blessed them, but sent leanness to their soul.  Leanness is a wasting away of the soul.  This is another Exigent Faith symptom and condition of darkness that is confessed by believers today. The Body has diagnosed itself with this wasting away.  When Christians are ever learning, but never coming to the knowledge of the truth, this is leanness. When Christians are ever digging new wells in the desert, this is leanness.  Leanness is a consuming disease of darkness.

Leanness and hardness of heart go hand in hand. Isaiah prophesied, "God gave them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear," Rom.11:7,8.  Notice that Satan does not give the spirit of slumber, God does.  God does this when believers remain indifferent to Him.

What the Church Needs to Overcome to Embrace Jesus as the Head of the Body and the apostles as the “eye:”

3. The Church Needs to Overcome Fear: The Church needs to overcome the false indoctrination that says that the apostles and prophets are speaking evil of the Church and are against the Church.

Why this indoctrination does not reflect the headship of Christ:

God's prophets spoke in the Old Testament against the rebellion of God's people.  Were they against God's people?  No, they were representing the plan of God.  Even as David also said, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recompense unto them."  Rom.11:10.  See also Acts 28:26,27.

We cannot condemn the Church. We cannot condemn what God has purchased with the blood of Jesus Christ.  Those who spoiled the souls of men and profane the name of God stand condemned.  Those who are in position of power have taken captive innocent people for their own gain.  They use sincere people to promote their own gospel.  God is now taking away the cloak of the hypocrite.

What the Church Needs to Overcome to Embrace Jesus as the Head of the Body and the apostles as the “eye:”

4. The Church Needs to Overcome Discernment in the Darkness: The church needs to overcome the false indoctrination which says that the Body of Christ is not in darkness because the authors, televangelists, pastors, and teachers (the spiritual generals and chief ones) live “godly” lives.

Why this indoctrination does not reflect the headship of Christ:

In Ezekiel chapter 8, we see the elders of Israel coming to the prophet.  God gave Ezekiel a vision of the hearts of these elders and he saw what was hidden from view.  God said to Ezekiel, "Son of man, have you seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery…"  “And I saw and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall around about."  Ez.8:1,10,12.

Many people are seen as “godly” simply because they are skillful at using scripture to mold a form of righteousness for themselves.  Seducing spirits appeal to the emotions to draw from scripture a confirmation of one’s own feelings so that believers can see themselves in scripture (self-concept) rather than in Christ. Removing the image of Christ from scripture creates a lie from truth.

Satan enters into the imagination to flatter one’s own value system. One’s own sense of correctness is then used as a fulcrum for discernment, thus creating a barrier against grace and truth. Paul’s command was to cast down every imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God (2 Cor.10:5). Just because a person quotes scripture does not mean he is confirming the plan of God.

What the Church Needs to Overcome to Embrace Jesus as the Head of the Body and the apostles as the “eye:”

5. The Church Needs to Overcome a Jaded Message: A jaded message loses relevancy. A revolutionary move is now taking place within the church; a move that has been prophesied for over 25 years; a move that has promised to reshape and restore the church, and bring revival. Yet many continue to sound their prophecies in the wilderness without conforming to the message themselves. In the public mind, these conveyors are no longer current with their own message.

Why this indoctrination does not reflect the headship of Christ:

The False Empathic Prophetic Movement is stunted because it is more dedicated to recycling the same prophetic rhetoric rather than committing to substantive change. Faith practitioners who are stunted in the prophetic seek to empower the church by emulating the book of Acts. Isolated concepts such as "home church" "moving in the gifts," "true repentance," “communal experiences,” "walking in the Spirit," "reorganizing spiritual government" are all tangents that are recycled and reborn from the 70’s and 80’s as if they are new revelations. Home churches, cell groups, and after glow meetings were designed to emulate the book of Acts yet fell short of expectation. Christians still felt isolated from God, still suffered faith crisis, still did not feel their faith was meaningful. Faith practitioners who are stunted in the prophetic try to fulfill their own vision by revolutionizing these concepts, by presenting anew the same concepts reborn as through prophecy into this time in which we live. Christ cannot be isolated to a concept. What was missing in the 70’s and 80’s is still missing in the faith of those who are stunted. What is missing is the record of Christ, the pattern of truth, the blueprint of faith. The tools of the Second Covenant are missing. Christ is not seen in the altar and the priesthood is absent from their faith. These are the standards and tools God has restored through Apostolic Governance. These are the standards and tools you will receive through Second 8th Week University Choice Education Foundation Series.

What the Church Needs to Overcome to Embrace Jesus as the Head of the Body and the apostles as the “eye:”

6. The Church Needs to Overcome the practice of isolating truth from the covenant:  Prayer is a tool of the Second Covenant, but when it is isolated from the covenant it is joined to the aspiration of man. Faith practitioners promise that prayer will usher the church into revival, that prayer will bring God’s power down, that prayer will bring the supernatural.

Why this indoctrination does not reflect the headship of Christ:

When God, in His compassion, answers the prayers of Christians around the world, prayers are seen as “successful” and people begin to take their “prayer strategies” to set a standard for the Body of Christ. God is compassionate on the just and the unjust. Jesus brought this out in His own preaching when He said, “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust” (Mt.5:45).

It is true that people from every religion around the world can lay claim to God’s compassion. However, the apostle Paul restricted his office and calling as the pattern setter for the church. He wrote, “Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting” (1 Tim. 1:16).

Prayer is a tool of the Second Covenant, but the apostle Paul did not isolate prayer from the terms of the covenant.  When prayer is isolated from the covenant it is isolated from the pattern that God set through apostles and is then joined to the aspiration of man and another spirit carries knowledge to completion. Exigent Faith behaviors are then manifested:

§   Emotional Exploitation. Faith practitioners exploit believers emotionally, promising prayer “keys” that will unlock personal promises and harvest promises. However, when apostles set the pattern for faith believers understand all the terms of the covenant and walk in the power of God daily and no longer search for keys to unlock promises of treasures.

§   Ministry focus on tangents rather than the fullness of Christ. Each tangent requires believers to align themselves with new standards and concepts in hopes of achieving spiritual transformation. However, when apostles set the pattern for faith the entire foundation of truth is set in the heart and believers are not emotionally drawn to tangents and no longer need to align themselves to each new revelation. They have already aligned themselves to God through Jesus Christ and walk in the power of God daily having a thorough understanding of the value of Christ in all the tools of the covenant, knowing how these are integrated, knowing what God has sanctified for faith, and enabled to walk in cadence with God using all the tools.

§   Ministry promise of the supernatural. Faith practitioners exploit believers emotionally, promising new strategies and keys to unlock the supernatural power of God. Faith practitioners use isolated experiences with the supernatural to validate concepts isolated from the covenant. However, when apostles set the pattern for faith believers are not emotionally drawn to these isolated concepts because they are already living the fullness of Christ and no longer looking for it. They see ministering spirits (God’s angels; Heb.1:14) on a weekly basis, the Spirit of God is daily giving substance to their hope, daily bringing their soul increase in the likeness of Christ, and daily bringing their soul to completion.

§   Ministry promise to believers to be used of God. Faith practitioners exploit believers emotionally, promising that new strategies and keys will enable them to fulfill God’s purpose. When apostles set the pattern for faith believers are not emotionally drawn to these isolated concepts of ministry and purpose, they are already stewarding the grace of God daily for their own growth and the growth of others and therefore already experience the manifold grace of God and need not reach into their own signature gifts to find purpose for faith.

§  Ministry focus on prayer tangents, strategies, spiritual warfare, and keys manifest the Exigent Faith. Isolating the tool from the covenant isolates the knowledge from the power of God. The Spirit of God will only bear witness to the record of Christ and carry this witness within the soul to bring the soul into His rest.  While others are still predicting this move of God to perfect the Church and restore all things, Second 8th Week Ministries, Inc. and its University have implemented the application of this change and graduates are now daily experiencing the rewards of the fullness of Christ's promise of spiritual transformation. Believers are now empowered to extract themselves from emotional exploitation.

Jesus’ Message to the Church:

"Tell them I AM come to bring life.
I AM come to bring them out of darkness."

Through apostolic governance, God is again providing the light of Jesus Christ through His knowledge. God is returning the light to the Body through the eye.

SELF EXAMINATION:

Do I wish to come out of darkness and into the light of God's truth?

Do I wish to be discipled by a true apostle?

Do I no longer wish to have my faith on the battlefield of the flesh?

For a long time Christians received an education of faith built on fables. Ministers understand how fables play upon the soul and carefully choose the pitch of the fable to move the soul in harmony with their present vision. Every religious system takes the raw material of a fable to craft the gospel of Jesus Christ around it. Christians understand how the fable touches their heart, but don’t understand how the fable is dysfunctional, impairing faith. They are taught how to strive after these fables and their faith is never brought to completion. Christians are taught how to seek God after a principle imbedded in the fable, which then brings them into bondage to carnal things.

We are here to bridge your understanding. Why do fables excite you about a higher level of commitment, but not root you in Christ, nor advance you in His grace?  Fables reinforce the dynamics of a particular doctrine and discipline, but this doesn’t translate into victory. Fables are used to help the faith participant face the next challenge of life, but does not equip them with the tools of the covenant. If you would like these paradoxes and exigent faith symptoms removed from your faith, we invite you to register for Second 8th Week Ministries' Distance Learning University.
